Now if we get a dry summer all the grass will die!!!

Right, where are the plans for the new railway?

My garden in some areas is a bit soggy (especially after these last few days) but I might have difficulty contacting the builder a Mr Ball a market gardener of Bradwell in Suffolk...... the house was built in 1906.

In the winter the water table is less tahn 3 feet below the surface going by the level in one of the wells...

:lol: thanks Q! The grass is just for our 6 year old to play on but if I can get a train or 2 running by the summer I'm sure he'll be more interested in that than footy! :D:D:D:D If it were up to me it would be full of railway! :D:D The house is only 3 years old this coming July and we've had problems from day one with it waterlogging but fortunately its a 12 year development where we are so Taylor Wimpey are still around. After much harassment, emails and phonecalls from the dozen houses its affected Taylor Wimpey have finally admitted a problem and have, (luckily for me), made mine the first repair so to speak. I now have a lawn instead of a swamp :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: Roll on summer 8-)8-)8-)8-)

To the right near the gnome is where one line will go through the wall, run along the patio and under the step of the French doors. The little stakes in front of the viaduct will have log roll or similar in front then concrete inside up to the levels of the top of the stakes so I will have 1 line running on the viaduct and 1 line running in front of it. The stakes are just there to give me my levels and aren't structural.

Hi Nige. Thanks mate. Yes guilty as charged mate!!:lol: I had 20 thermalites blocks let over from a conservatory job I've just finished so I thought I'd have a play carving them up!:lol: It's come out better than I thought if I do say so myself. :P:P

Yeahhhh...another viaduct! :)

It took me a while to figure out what you'd done until I realised they were laid sideways on. I bet it took a steady hand carving out those arches. Did you manage to break any?

When I was reading your plans I took a look back at the gnome on the previous page and thought "He's gonna take it into the bloody house!" Switching back a page I then realised it was going along the patio. Hey, into the house would have been brill! Change of plan perhaps?

Now I'm left thinking what's he going to come up with for the remaining 15 or so Thermalites?????

 Hi Mick. No I didn't break any at all but I've got to admit I cheated a little with the arches.:oops: Having measured out where I wanted the arch centres, tops and pier widths I first used a 60mm holesaw and drilled through the blocks. I then cut down from the sides of the holes to the bottom of the block by hand which then gave me a good uniform arch if that makes sense?? I'll upload some pics shortly. Yes I layed the blocks on they're edge as I didn't require much height. I've just shown 'er indoors the comment about running it into the house but it hasn't met with approval!!:lol::lol::lol: Regards. Mark

:cry::cry::cry: GUTTED and DOUBLE GUTTED!!!! Gutted cos no new toy til Friday as it's failed its mot on a ball joint and a brake pipe!!:cry: Double gutted cos I've tried to swap my insurance over from the vectra to the new toy only to be told they don't cover "super saloons"!! I therefore can't use my no claims towards insuring it so I got another quote with no no-claims! £2865!! Or I can put it on a classic car policy with limited milage of 3000 miles per year! That's a ridiculous average of 60 miles per week!! Its a 23 year old car for gods sake!! I want to drive the bloody thing not look at it!!! I'm 45 years old with full protected no claims!! Ive never had a single point on my licence ever!! How can anyone expect almost 3 grand for insurance?? I've sold both bikes and the escort I've had for 27 years to buy this "dream" car! I've been a member of the owners club for 4 years waiting for the right car and it will be cherished and never let out of my sight!! Is it just me or does anyone else think insurers have a licence to print money??? Does anyone else own a classic? Could I get cover via a multi car policy?? Rant over!! :x:x

There are a few specialist Insurers. Adrian Flux, Greenlight, Reis, and others I can't think of just now. It is usual to have a limited mileage attached, but that mileage is negotiable. Google is your friend here. Don't the owners club have any Insurance discount arrangements with anyone?

It must be quite a common thread topic too. Thing about limited mileage is that nobody is expected to use a classic as a daily driver. If you are going to keep the car for dry weather only driving, you will be surprised at how few miles you actually do, especially if you lay it up over the Winter.

Spill the beans then, what have you got. I have two forums worth of petrol head friends, many of whom are proper friends, not just virtual ones. They may know the answer.

Multi car policy? I think Admiral are used amongst my lot. If push comes to shove, consider using your NCD on the classic and starting afresh (with a new customer discount) on the daily. Any decent Insurer should help you with your calculations.
