Hi Robert, like to know how you posted that pic from your album, I tried to do the same as what Chris said but didn't come with the same in those pics, no idea what I am doing wrong, till then will have to upload the attachment or join where Ian uses to down load his pics.

I do have another photo bucket I use to download pics on another forum but doesn't work on this forum.

How are you going with your layout construction, being too cold and windy to do any work on my layout.

Tony.

Photo bucket, more like photo Fu*%it. They managed to loose all 2000 plus photo that I had taken whilst on holiday in the USA back in 2005, so I personnally would not recommend them at all. Okay I use imageshack, but it does cost a small amount but for me it does what it says on the tin.

Ian, I only use photo bucket to load pics onto another forum, agree to what you say, I changed one pic on photo bucket all lost all the pics on that forum with help from another member I managed to get them back, had an edit thing on it too, great for fixing up errors.

Bugger you have to pay for the use of that programme, how much is it a year, don't think I could convince my wife into paying for it as my son pays now for an online computer game called Lord of the ring, most of the games are going that way now.

Not good you losing all those pics from the trip to America, I would of been angry too.

Hello everyone, well again I didn’t get as much as I would have like to get done because it rained off and on throughout the weekend.

image.php?album_id=88&image_id=2709&display=popupimage.php?album_id=88&image_id= ... play=popuphttp://www.oogardenrailway.co.uk/gallery/image.php?album_id=88&image_id=2709&display=popup' alt='URL>'>

But it wasn’t a total washout; I precut a bunch of crossties and attach plates for the upper deck.

image.php?album_id=88&image_id=2711&display=popupimage.php?album_id=88&image_id= ... play=popuphttp://www.oogardenrailway.co.uk/gallery/image.php?album_id=88&image_id=2711&display=popup' alt='URL>'>

Also cut out roofing material for most of the benchwork that has been completed so far.

image.php?album_id=88&image_id=2722&display=popupimage.php?album_id=88&image_id= ... play=popuphttp://www.oogardenrailway.co.uk/gallery/image.php?album_id=88&image_id=2722&display=popup' alt='URL>'>

I am even a little further along on benchwork

image.php?album_id=88&image_id=2712&display=popupimage.php?album_id=88&image_id= ... play=popuphttp://www.oogardenrailway.co.uk/gallery/image.php?album_id=88&image_id=2712&display=popup' alt='URL>'>

But wait for my next post a little surprise :D

I could no longer resist, yesterday I had about 30 minutes of daylight left so I quickly bent some flex track grabbed my train and power source and ran my New York Central class J-1e 4-6-4 Hudson.

Man I am hooked

Tony hi, how’s it going in the chilly down under? :P As far as posting pictures on here take a look at the screen shots that Chris posted on the previous post , when you want to do a post and you want to add an image you click on gallery and pick the picture you want, instead of upload image click on image number instead, then when you’re in that screen you scroll down and see the box that Chris made a screen shot of, you copy the URL of the image in that box which should include the words popup which is the bigger version of your picture, then you go back to your posting and click on the image box, paste the URL address you copied from the gallery in between IMG Brackets that is on your posting screen, then do a preview and hopefully your larger picture will be there.

Oh man, that looks good. And a smoke unit too! Who makes that hudson is it a fancy BLI, or a less finance damaging unit? Either way it looks great.

It also looks like you are getting close to completing the oval on the layout.

As to being hooked; trains really do look better in real light situations huh? ;)

Griff it is a BLI but I snag it on ebay for a good price, I have some other BLI but did not pay over $220.00 for any of them, but to me still pricy. The most I paid was for an MTH Mohawk I had to save up for a while to get that one. I also have Bowser and a few brass, been playing with trains since the mid 1960s. :D

Hi Robert, as for post 67 on posting pics from you gallery to the post with larger pics, wasn't easy at first, but I kept up till I got it right, which is the easiest way you find this way or uploading the pic attachments, I guess once you get past the first couple it is easy and this way you can add comments to each pic other way I don't think you can., many thanks. to you and Chris.

Gee you sure are going great guns with the layout and couldn't to test a loco on what you have built already, coming along nicely, good pic of your dog, is he house dog too.

Yeah it was cold over here this morning, got down to zero, we feel the cold more because we have extreme summers, don't know how I would go with those real cold winters you have in the -20's I suffer with asthma and intend to stay out of the especially the cold wind, will have to wait till it warms up a bit, supposed to be a warm change coming in this weekend. I could be going to my train club on Saturday as my new Flying Scotsman arrived yesterday, waiting on a parcels and brake van to arrive.

Jack Frost paid us a visit too, no more green grass left. :D:D:)

Robert

Could you give some details about how you form the curve sections. My next step is a raised section from my new viaduct along the bottom of my garden and into the rear of my shed. What you've done looks like it would be ideal for my needs. Could you also give approx dimensions of the materials you've used to make the curves.

Tony Thanks. Yes my puppy lives in the house with my family, he replaces my K-9 German Shepherd partner Ranger and best bud that passed away last June, we were in Search and Rescue for 5 years, I miss him greatly, my new Shep was just what I needed, luv him to death. :D I retired from the team 3 years ago but have been teaching Trigger the game for fun plus you never know what the future holds.

The following photos show how I get my curves and put together my upper deck. The 2030’s aka what I call Tie Plates are cut to a 7 inch width, but you can cut them to whatever width you want including using wider and narrower widths on the same length of deck if you so chose.

The photo below shows the 2018 Side with some of the 2330 tie plates attached

Next group photos is the secret of how you make curves with this concept. You can also make your upper deck to whatever length you want up to 8 foot.

I sense a lightbulb has just illuminated inside my head

There are times when I just feel so stupid for not having thought of it. Now I can see myself rounding the corners at the bottom of my garden and keeping the baseboards in proportion to the track required. Brilliant! Thank you so much.

Just one question. Have you just relied on the self tapping screws to attach the edges to the spacers, or did you also use some sort of adhesive? Are the screws countersunk? Sorry, that's two questions.

I have just used screws, the cellular properties of the inner core of the PVC seem to hold the threads in place, I wanted it to be able to expand and contract freely due to hot and cold cycles so in theory there is less chance of warping issues and the screws used are decking screws. As far as the countersinks there again due to the properties of the inner core it is what I call core crush, so no they are not countersunk. Here in Kansas we have had several storms with 50 - 70 MPH winds and sustained wind of 40 - 50 with no problems except one piece of foam board roadbed that I did not have screwed down. As they say time will tale if I made a mistake of not using glue to help hold it together. :)

Bugger the train I want that Renegade Jeep sat in your neighbours driveway

Hey Ian that is my buddy Mike's Renegade, he drives it everyday to work. He is a fellow gearhead as well, what he has setting in his garage is pertty sweet as well, a factory big block 71 Chevy Monte Carlo.

Mick your welcome! I am still evolving the process, but I do think this would lend itself to very accurate curve sections by drawing out your radius on Kraft or butchers paper, overlay your plans on a sheet of plywood and put your screws that hold the side piece on your lines and then screw your top deck together, you should have a perfect piece to match whatever radius you want. So far I have just eyeballed my curve sections to what I thought looked good to me. ;)
