traingeekboy
Found this in the news today: http://news.vanderbilt.edu/2013/02/moles-smell-in-stereo/ It made me rethink the mole issue. They root around in search of food. So maybe if you killed whatever they eat, they would go away.
AndyR
Thanks for that Griff! They have wrecked the lawn over the last month, but thankfully left the railway in peace with the exception of one slight attack.. Regarding removing their food source, not an option They mainly eat earth worms, so removing them from the garden is impossible without I guess destroying the whole ecosystem! I have a plan to perhaps relay the lawn with a layer of fine wire mesh under the turf. Not sure how feasible this would be but I am sorely tempted. roddy
Vibration deters moles. I have seen that even the kiddies windmills on sticks pushed into the ground can keep them away.
AndyR
Thanks Roddy, now that actually makes some sense. Until the tail end of the year there were a few kids windmills planted in a raised flower bed in the centre of the lawn. Now they have gone the moles are back! I will be buying some more asap. Thanks!

george356
Strangely enough, the chap at 3min 21sec advising Carrott to use windmills is the spitting image of Roddy
