grockle
Australian radio has been a naughty naughty boy. Making hoax calls to a UK hospital. Since this call was made a nurse has committed suicide over the hoax call. Listening to what has been said and done so far from here in the UK, what is happening more locally on the ground. It was on the news here tonight Ian and the radio station in Sydney known as 2 DayFM has sacked the two young presenters. However management got off Scott free as they approved of the prank call. This radio station has continually broken broadcasting regulations and only last year one of their "presenters" pushed a 14 year old girl on air over her sex life and she admitted that she had been raped. The "presenters" thought that was highly hilarious. Those two presenters are still on air today. The management also said today that they no longer approve of prank calls. I'd say with their reputation they "no longer approve of prank calls for the time being". The radio industry is self regulating so that answers it all. Roy. grockle
The British police are now getting involved, so anything now can happen. Feel sorry for the nurse's family, and poor Mum only took the initial call, and passed it on to a senior member of staff at the hospital. cleanerg6e
It came on the telly here that no charges are to be laid against the two presenters over the Indian girls death due to there not being enough evidence contributing to her death. I'd say the Indian girl was right on the edge when she took the call and should have been under psychiatric care in a mental hospital and not working in a hospital. Mind you it always amuses me how the Indian media goes ballistic when an elite class Indian is treated wrongly in their opinion. If it had been a lower class or untouchable not a word would have been said. The bloke who hosted the UK program "Grand Designs" went to Delhi and to the slum in the middle of Delhi. He was told by the authorities in India not to go into the slum because it was full of diseases, roving murdering gangs etc. He found a population who were happy, drug free, and they all took care of each other. The worked in the local rubbish tip as recyclers, recycling Delhi's garbage. He said in the UK we think we are great because we are into recycling, but the UK only recycles 20% of it's rubbish. These slum dwellers recycle 80% of Delhi's rubbish. He realised that the only reason the authorities didn't want him to go into the slum was because they didn't want him to see how a lot of Indians have to live their lives. The slum is in the process of being demolished and the people are being forced to live in badly built high rise apartments were crime is rampant. It's only the top 2% of Indians who can afford it that can go to places like the UK and Australia. The other 98% that make up the bulk of the Indian population haven't got a hope of ever making a new life in a western country. The political elites are keen to see that it stays that way. With so many of the population living in what we would regard as deplorable conditions the elites are more concerned about having nuclear weapons. Roy.
