Rossi Railways in the sun

All this talk about track foundations, thought I'd post a couple of pixs of the front station with the cement blocks.

PIC_2101.000.jpg

And this one leaving the station. Blocks been in place since last Sept and there is no real disturbance at all.

PIC_2103.JPG

Also a quick shot of K3 on freight duties. (Station was erected to provide cover from the sun for stationed trains and seems to do the trick)

PIC_2116.JPG

Not sure if the glass actually amplifies the situation!!!

I think that's the way to go Rossi - something nice and solid that isn't going to be affected by the weather. Good to hear that it's working for you.

It's all looking very good with the plants, buildings etc and with a good selection of rolling stock. The shot of the loco in the station is especially good but isn't that a V3 rather than a K3? Number appears to be 67628 which would indicate a V3. A V3 in LNER green was one of my first purchased locos during my initial spell of railway modelling back in the 1990's. It's long since been sold on but I see that Bachmann have now decided to upgrade the model with a new DCC chassis so maybe that will be the time for me to take another look at them I quite like tank loco's.

Mick...just put it down to old age. Of course its a V3. I think K3 actually signified 2-6-0 wheel arrangement.

yes, quite happy with the cement blocks. Also allow some of the track to be a little bit looser than tacking down sleepers every 6 inches or so. I think being too rigid is detrimental to the track which makes it fight against the differences with rain and sun. We'll know in another 6 months or so.

Decision made, and no going back.

WOODWORM!!!! And ORDERS from Mrs Rossi

Rustic bar and roof now almost dismantled and all the railway at the bottom end uprooted awaiting the builders (this afternoon).

This wont be a quick fix!

No wonder we've got a cloudy sky.

Well that is entirely a shame to see happen. I assume the fairer Rossi was not willing to call in specialists to spray it.

That is a major set back on a great layout. But, assuming you have the motivation, you may get a batter layout after a while. Still, it must be a real blow. I assume you can salvage a lot of train items though.

A bit of headway after traumatic times!

Back section now in place for hidden track and for scenic development.

PIC_2207.JPG

Covers on hinges for easy access.

PIC_2208.JPG

Took the decision to buy these new fangled composite boards. Feels like heavy duty plastic but the Spanish translation was wood and plastic mix!!!
Anyway...maybe an end to the WARPS.

PIC_2209.JPG

So, the old station obviously no more but a new beginning hopefully this week. The aim is to try and get something up and running for friends arriving this week...well, tomorrow actually.

So, a bit of progress...at last.

Main thing is trains running, and I made it by the skin of my teeth! (See previous comments)

Track laid. Some varnished and sand/gravel added.Noticed on the pixs that the back wall will be in for a repaint soon.

Been there for about 4/5 years now, so can't grumble.

PIC_2239.JPG

A few alterations to station track and new platforms in. Now a lot straighter than the curved ones from before.
All the scenics need to be done around this area but as I say, trains running.

PIC_2244.JPG

Well done Mick with the new look. Seems ok.

Hi Rossi, great to hear you have trains running again, what's the plastic board, they look like they could be uses for floor decking, like the roof on your pergola pretty good

Pic two ,I love the way you painted the back scene , one day I will pick up the paint brush an d do a back scene, should ask my sisters as they are doing a art's course.

what issue are you up to in your model railway layout, come up to the church yet.

My layout is coming along nicely, working on the last module house end of the car port, and also today I soldered in feeder wires and connected them together and ran a loco from one module to another, getting there, pics on my post.

Happy modelling from down under, Tony

Put a video out of the railway as it is at the moment after the big rip-up.

Not much has changed apart from straightened platforms & some new track laid. Salvaged quite a lot actually.

A tub of paint wont go amiss either on certain parts!

That's a great video, Rossi. It shows very well how busy you've been, and all the scenic detail work that has been done (some of which may have survived from the previous version I suppose). Liked the period road vehicles, the houses and other buildings, the plants occasionally glimpsed, and the two stations. After watching, I realised you have managed to create a very watchable video, taken I think all in one sequence without needing to edit shots. Looks like a great railway, so now you can enjoy some relaxed running sessions again.

Cheers Andrew. Yes, it's one "take" as they say, no edits. What you see is how the railway performs and I try to get something running most days even if it's only a couple of circuits.

Now everything has settled down (I.E. builders work finished) we'll be trotting down to the garden centre to refurbish, plus, as I said, a bit (lot) of paintwork.

Hi Rossi yeah will have to agree with Andrew nice video and glad to here your layout is back and running again, mine will be a while yet, probably the end of the year, will have half up and running as I have a couple of new trains to play with, on is a Hemano customised Thaly's TGV 10 piece set.

Video clip of the Thaly's 6piece set before I received the other 4 middle coaches on Monday on my post, Have you got the church in your model railway and how many mags the kit is in, forgot if you do have the church what the number of the mags

Tony from cold down under 3 degrees this morning, dropping down even lower next week.

Tony...the church!

Might prove costly 'cos the parts are in numbers 71/73 and 75 plus we assembled it only to find that some small parts are to follow. So, 4 editions works out a bit steep for one item.

HI Rossi saw you comment about the knee pads in Micks post saw the small pillows you use , I have being using the knee cushions you can get for when kneeing down doing gardening, I thought of the knee pads because it will be easier don't have to move the rubber cushion all the time.

Looks like not a good idea buying the church then best off building another kit church, will check the prices at the newsagent as they would have to back order those mags as some kits can be quite dear to buy.

How is the weather where you is it summer or winter.

Got a break from the cold this week, temps going up as high as 25 degrees C over the weekend, be doing woodturning on Saturday and other days planning my station building that will be the main feature of the layout will have a clock tower as well., I will be starting up a new post for that project.

Never known it before...Rain in August.(Couple of hours anyway).

Good news is, it will get rid of all the dust which I thought I'd have to tackle after the sand storms.

PIC_2305.JPG

47 about to be moved under the canopy.

PIC_2313.JPG

PIC_2306.JPG

Cover boards in place over point work.

PIC_2314.JPG

Dust about to be shifted (hopefully)

As I'm typing I can see the clouds moving. Probably a run this afternoon.
Rain always make the place smell fresh. (Not too much though).
