ba14eagle
This is 47406 "RailRiders", a Bachmann special edition 47/4 for The Engine Shed / Gaugemaster. This loco utilises the 47 body that doesnt have the NRN radio aerial on the cab roof (why cant some of the other 47/4 production runs ie 47612/47461/47541 utilise both bodies?) It has been fitted with a Howes sound chip which captures all the characteristics of these locos superbly. The loco came supplied with the bufferbeam details added at one end and just requires me to fit the cast nameplates and some subtle weathering. At present, this loco is the preferred motive power for a postal train I am creating (Bachmann please can we have some stowage vans to go with the brilliant sorting vans) and I am also planning an inter-regional set of Mk2' for the future. I personally prefer the Bachmann 47 over other manufacturers offerings, but we need some more variants if anyone from Bachmann is reading this (In particular a 47/0 or 47/3 in blue or Railfreight Red Stripe would be nice )
mick
Having this same loco myself and also with the Howes sound chip I have to agree with everything you say. Great loco and good drivability with the sound responding almost exactly when required.

ba14eagle
"RailRiders" has now been joined by 47079 "G.J.Churchward" in GW150 green livery. This loco is fitted with a SWD sound chip, which is quite different to the Howes sound, fitted in 47406.
