mick
This post is all about my project to weather and load a rake of RevolutioN Trains IWA 'Rfnoos' Timber Carriers in OO gauge but before I get started I'll just add a few quick photos taken with my phone camera to show some detail of the 'out of the box' wagons. I currently have a rake of 16 wagons with the intention of increasing this by another 2 wagons to make a rake of 18. The first step will be to weather the wagons followed by the long and tedious process of loading them with hand-cut timber 'logs' made from garden prunings. mick
Having fitted some later type stanchions to a set of four wagons I've just given each of them a very light initial weathering in order to tone down the blue colour. I've positioned the stanchions in appropriate places to coincide with the size of logs I've been cutting and not with reference to any specific photographs. Clay Mills Junction
Looking better already. How do you say "Rfnoos?"

I don't even know what it means...! 55 minutes ago, Clay Mills Junction said: Looking better already. Yes they are. I've brush weathered one chassis too with a wash of colour and in my eyes it rmore closely resembles some of the chassis I have seen in photos so I think a mixture of both methods is on the cards. ba14eagle
I cant think Ive ever seen these wagons in the flesh, but the light weathering really looks good on them. I currently have a beef with Revolution Trains, which is a pity, as I would quite like to pre-order a Cartic 4 🤔

mick
I've posted a photo above of a wagon that had a light weathering of track colour using an airbrush but in order to have a variety of weathered effects I've also begun weathering the chassis by hand using a very diluted dirty wash which is then wiped away using a kitchen paper towel or similar. These will then be lightly airbrushed using track colours. And although these wagons are all going to be loaded I thought it best to weather the wagon floors and inner ends too, parts of which will doubtless show so they do really need doing. Still work to be done on the stanchions above as some require removing while later versions need to be added.
