Hi Mark, many thanks, how is your days off going and your layout build , progressing well,  was a little disappointed with the finish of the bow side , hopefully when I fill in the gaps the the sharpness of the side will sand out,  going to paint the cardboard with clear lacquer, should harden the cardboard.

I will leave the bow sides and move onto beyond the main deck bulkhead onto the hull sides, no more bulkheads now the  side of the ship is the bulkheads, have some pics of the real  ship, keep an eye on your email, I have being in contract with the Captain of the Corona Sea .

I am sat in Hong Kong airport on my way home to NZ after doing a course in Finland. I only have 5 days at home before flying back to Norway to join my ship for 10 weeks. I have not done anything in the garden part of the railway. Too cold still. I do have my baseboards down in the shed and am waiting for my electro frog points to arrive from the UK. When I get back home mid november i hope to start a bit of track laying.

Hi Mark, it is still cool here in the morning warming up later in the afternoon, gee talking about Finland the Corona Sea's Captain I am in contract with now said he had to do a safety course in Finland as well, you could pasted each other in those couple of days

I am going to be very interested in how you tackle those electrocfrog points, I have one I bought by mistake, it took some effort to get it to work, unrest you have an easier way, sadly electricofrog are a better point I have being told.

I had a busy weekend working on the approach module bus wiring, Saturday afternoon I was getting a short, on one block, pulled out the electrofrog point, cut other wires still shorting till I checked the wires that will connect to the next module they were touching , pulled them away bingo no short, what I did to sort out the polarity issue, is on my Camdale post.

Have a good trip home, haven't sent you those pics, keep an eye on your email, let me know if you come across him .

Breaking news, the bow of my ship is finely finished at long last after three attempts later, I am a happy camper she turned out ok in the  end after making a few mistakes on the  way be as close as I can get of the real bow.

Now I can more onto the next bulkhead, has will have the upper deck on it and top deck, a bit of cutting out still with the hull till the end of the first section then for there on be a square shape from top deck to water line.

I am glad there isn't a 4th deck to worry about now and didn't really need to add on 10 mm's , too lake now, won't notice it , the bulkhead from the main deck bulkhead has the stair cases to the upper decks be closed in is what the 4th deck is.

On a big high, am glad to see that finished.

Hi Mick, many thanks yeah she sure is going to be stunning when finished, now the bow is done be a lot easier the next three sections be square to the water line. That is the whole idea the ship being the main feature of the layout on top of the bridge.

I would love to extend more out into the garden , should run the level line out from the modules to see reach to be level with the garden, nice to dream would extend to the fence and have track around the the shrub next to the garden shed, a lot of track needed, win the lotto what is needed.

I intend to model a RO, Ro port , the cranes they use are different to a container port, some of the Europeans ports  are worth modelling like Hanko Finland.

Has started working on the next bulkhead didn't line up, have to start again on remarking, cutting and gluing together, tomorrow night ship project night.

Finely a pic of the proud builder holding the he finished ships bow.

Looks really good Tony. It's going to be an eye-catching feature once it's complete.

By the way, I can't help thinking that garden of yours would make an ideal location for a garden railway!

My thoughts exactly on both counts!

Hi Mark, many thanks, not a 100 percent happy with the finish of the bow, I am thinking of after the ship is finished rebuild the bow section now I have all  the DWG plans, the ship is in 4 sections, will see how they all join up, the windows on the raised deck should be flat and level , is a learning curve.

With the bridge and two lower decks will be shared with the second ship.

On holidays and the weather has not being kind, 18 degrees today and very windy, there be a break in the weather, be when the cruise ship passes us around 2pm  get down closer on the beach to take the pics.

Latest update on the ship build, just finished the third bulkhead and two more to go  only one really  to go I rather have an end bulkhead making it easier and stronger to join up the next section. sadly I made a mistake on the channels for the reinforcing for the  channel keel . When I buy the 18 mm square dowel will have to sand it for it to fit, won't  make that on the next section.

Looks good with the trailers on the main deck, will have rolls of paper as a load which the ship does take, the deck sides are ply, mainly the top and upper deck have trailers and containers looking at specialist loads like trams locos wind turbine parts goes  on.

Will make a start on the bridge deck and two lower decks, now I have all the plans to the ship , the second one be a lot better.

House inside is nearly done, b e moving back inside, the wi-fi got knocked out on  4/G USB stick, 5G is coming in next year be twice the speed.

Tony form partly cloudy down under, a warm 29 degree day.

A big mile stone I finished the last bulkhead for the first section of the ship, can't close the sides in till I finish the superstructure and bridge, starting on the planning of the bridge Monday night, the superstructure is flush with the hull for a few inches .

Yesterday was a marathon build to finish the last blackhead, I still need to glue in some reinforcing on the  last bulkhead   and the last two panels are double card to give strength for when the next section joins up.

The superstructure I making so it can lift off so I can use it for the second hull being a full hull for radio control save in having to build a second superstructure, the next three sections be a lot easier to build.

Amazing, I started planning the ship August 29 2017, sure  has come a long way with a few stuff ups on the way, the bow section is nearly finished, what has made it easier getting in touch with the ships captain ,he has being a great help indeed and now have all the plans to the ship, the second build be more correct.

I will also mark out and cut ti size the upper deck , being the middle deck , once the sides are finished I can paint the main deck add detail like the door to the stair case to the upper decks be able to see the detail as I will have the decks lit up. Will have to buy two lengths of 18 mm square dowel to strengthen the keel, the sections join I be actually over lapping the sides and bottom cover any mistake of the of with gaps .

One happy camper , looking like Corona Sea, be starting up a new folder of the superstructure and bridge build..

Here is the latest pics now working on the superstructure, top deck and 7th deck and bridge on top., very happy with the way the cabin windows on one panel , was very hard, still a second layer to glue in place, that one wont be in one full piece, I wanted to get the round shape on the front edge.

First pic, second pic I have to figure out how to build the vents, will be cutting the card board on the close to the upper deck windows , third pic is how I got the round shape on the edge when  bent the card , forth pic and fifth pic how my attempt has turned, will find out how the topw windows will line up with the center of the bridge windows.

Lucky last be the same as on the other  side, with the card lapping down onto the hull is how I will lock in the superstructure, so I can lift it out and hopefully use on the second hull .

A lot of work ahead on the superstructure more cabin windows where the life boat is being a model in its own right, could power it and a remote control , a thought down the track .

I might finish the ship when the first train is ready to run on the layout in May next year, can't wait .

I have completed yet another milestone, the port side of the first section has being completely closed and looking like Corona Sea's bow section wow what an effort, I thought I never get there, with three attempts of the bow, still a lot more effort a heard to complete the firs section.

Once I finish the starboard side, I will finish off the upper deck , mark and cut to size them mark the trailer lanes, next paint the deck, still can't glue in place till the main deck is finished, be hard to paint the deck with the bulkheads in the way, not much I can do about that.

I still need to mark and cut the crew quarters top and 7th deck , where the glasses are in the second pic., giving a new time limit to finish the layout will give me time to finish the ship's hull in time to run the first train across the bridge with the ship passing under the bridge be  an awesome site  indeed, in the blue an while colour scheme .

And especially the new owners and their Logo, company name is Transtennica, I found a product that will do the job called Micro mask liquid masking tape to tape out the letters , on a high.

Hi Griff, thanks she sure is huge, 2.160 meters in 4 sections, Started planning the ship a couple of years back,  got onto the ships owners, went from there where the ships plans started arriving, finely got onto the captain of the ship wow lots of needed pics.

I am working on the port side now filling it in , should be finished by the weekend , continue on  with the superstructure, bridge and upper deck, start planning the second section be a hell of a lot easier to build, quite a few sheets of white cardboard 1mm sheets.

All goes well will be finished in time with the first train to run the layout.

Thought , I put in an update on the ships progress , just before i was rushed to hospital , I just glued in place the side wall panel of the main deck section an working on is the exhaust vents , the blue door is access to deck stair cases, wont go that far in detail.

When I am finely home from hospital I will start on the starboard side, wall panel , has the same , second pic of main deck stair case port side,  show the exhaust vents , with the stern ramps down will be able to see the vent when the hull is finely finished.

next update, I will explain how I modeled mine and pics of each stage of progress on each vent, was not easy , but when I in proved , how I did it, made it much faster, can do one panel row in a few hours. Once the starboard side panel is in , I will paint the sides off white and deck floor gray , will have make up a temp plate, for the trailer lanes, going to use a yellow marker pen the easiest way to go.

Next step is the planning of the second section and keel laying , will improve on how I built the keel channels for the 18 mm square dowel, next section be far easier to build only one beam panel with a bit of the bow shape, rest be square down to the stern , next section will have the start of the main ramp to the upper deck and yet, more exhaust vents , waiting on more detail pics from the captain of the main and upper deck .

Tony from down under, hope everyone had a happy new year

At long last the main deck detail is finished right down to the trailer lanes which was very difficult to mark with the upper deck framing, upper deck be a lot easier to mark only the top deck frame beams in the way.

I am waiting for the captain to reply on what the smaller doors are used , have to wait till when he is home after his one month tour, you have to put some plus to  see the trailer lane marking, the best way to go using a yellow marker pen, will do the same on the other two decks.

Won't be gluing down the upper deck till  after the hull is finished.

Now I can move onto the next section be a hell of a lot easier to build and quicker as well, can't wait.

Finely at long last the main deck detailing is now complete and I can now move onto the next section Morrow night , laying the keel down, it wasn't easy marking the trailer lanes, took two attempts to get them right, have to be so when the section butts up the lanes line up.

I won't be closing in the upper deck till all of the sections are finished and bolted  together, I need to wire in led lighting so the end of the main and upper decks can be seeing when the stern ramps are down.

At last form now on the other three section be very easy to build to the bow section .

At long last I have cut the bottom plate and laid down the keel, she looks awesome joined up, will have o have a flat surface when I finely glue and join the send section to the ow section, have decided to finish off the full hull and then rebuild the bow section improving from mistakes, I pushed in the 18mm square dowel and couldn't get it out had to cut the dowel off to size.

I will be building the bulkheads different this time and the main deck goes in later with it painted and trailer lanes marked, works out well will do that on the next two sections and the bow rebuild

For sure the rest of the ship be very easy to build square hull down to the water line, quite happy with tonight's work, the first bulkhead be the one that joins to the bow section,

Camdale layout will have to be hold till March, this week is going to be a stinker of a week 35 degrees tomorrow, 38 on Tuesday and Wednesday 42 degrees, today was 35 degrees C  as well, I didn't last long outside, in the afternoon decided to mark the bridge arch bottom framing in the nice cool hobby room.

No cutting will have to wait till the last afternoon early morning to do that, going to build the station building out of 1mm card so I build it in the cool hobby room.
