  1. From the album: Construction of Stack Gill Viaduct - Part 1

This first photograph shows where construction of the Worsley Dale Garden Railway had reached when I began building Stack Gill viaduct.
  2. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

...and weather it certainly does when it's outdoors. Is there a better location for a model railway? I don't think so.
  3. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

Finally, a base dressing of decorative stone was laid on top of weed suppressant fabric and the whole lot left to naturally weather
  4. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

Some surplus rocks were cemented in position against the log roll
  5. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

The start of some scenic ground work around the base of the viaduct
  6. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

The drainage holes were positioned to exit the blocks at their strongest point
  7. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

Drainage holes drilled through the top of the viaduct and exiting on their face
  8. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

The first train to cross the viaduct, although on this occasion it was just putting on a show for the camera
  9. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

Here the track is laid and has been ballasted using 'Klear' floor polish which proved successful for a short time. Bus wires can be seen alongside the track carrying power around the layout.
  10. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

Track is laid on a layer of roofing felt and pinned to the aerated block top
  11. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

Close up view of the parapet wall
  12. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

This view shows not only the parapet walls but also the drainage holes drilled through the top and out of the sides
  13. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

A view along the top with the parapet walls in place
  14. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

Another view of the parapet wall sections. They would be rounded with sandpaper once dry.
  15. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

    More parapet walls being added
  16. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

The parapet walls are glued in position
  17. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

Slices of aerated block were used to form the parapet walls along the top of the viaduct
  18. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

Seen from the garden side this shows the full extent of the viaduct
  19. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

Another view from the opposite side of the viaduct and its connection to the shed
  20. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

Seen from the other side you get a first glimpse of the method I used to add parapet walls using cut slices of aerated blocks. A narrow section laid flat and slight protruding over the edges of the blocks with another narrow section glued on top. Exterior 'No More Nails' proved successful as a fixative.
  21. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

The base of the viaduct is almost complete with just a few arches still to be formed
  22. From the album: Construction of Low Shott Viaduct

My first proposed method of adding parapet walls. Soon abandoned.
