  1. Yes, fascinating, and those are superb coaches now. Passengers too - that raises the bar substantially. I look forward to seeing the complete train behind a Peak. Somewhere tucked away I have a rake of Airfix Mk2D/E blue and grey coaches which were intended to form a 1970s/80s ECML train behind a Deltic. As they've never been run, it's time to ferret them out, but the equally unused Mainline(?) Deltic didn't have any window glazing, which was a bit of a turnoff.
  2. Today I just enjoyed the sunshine while re-soldering a number of failed rail end bonds, after having buffed up the solder sites with a wire brush in the minidrill. Then it was time to plant out a few lineside telegraph poles on the scenic section, filling gaps which were overlong or where other poles have disappeared. I stuck the poles onto cut down plastic garden spikes (around 5cm long) with a glue gun, so will have to see how durable that is. Perhaps running on Monday...
  3. Thanks for the kind comments. One more shot:
  4. That looks like excellent structural engineering, Thomas. I think there could be a lifting/removable section visible in one of those photos. I'm trying to work out how many different levels of track there will be on the indoor section - maybe I need to check back in case you included a plan many months ago, but of course plans change...
  5. Those are great photos, Perc. Can't wait to see what you can do when you get the new territory. All those diesels look great, and the cat(s) too. I would echo Mick's comment that your new plans should include a garden section, as there's a lot of benefit from daylight and extra space, not to mention that the scenery is probably already there!
  6. That's a nice test train, Chris - every vehicle different, which always helps. More soon, we hope!
  7. First trains of the year About time too, I hear some say. Well, up till now the weather hasn't been great this year, and there's always real life which conspires to get in the way of running trains. But with this recent spell of fine weather - and no social obligations intervening(!) - I was able to make the most of today. It was a Southern day in honour of the sunshine, and the first train past was a coal train hauled by an N Class 2-6-0: Then a West Country appeared with a passenger train, seen here running past the goods train at Northdown Sidings: Running across the Northern Viaduct and past Foxdale Carr Hall: Heading past the new footbridge on towards Foxdale Bank: And past the commemorative platelayers hut: Just caught a threequarter rear view as she passed: Then the N Class reappeared on a local passenger train: Rumbling past empty coaching stock in the sidings:
  8. Yes, the smoke in that second clip is starting to look pretty good, despite my earlier criticisms of weak smoke. As for your previous video, it looks really great and certainly showcases to good effect the enormous extent of your rolling stock collection. I particularly like the full length HST and the gap-toothed container train. Overall, the whole thing looks to me to be strongly and authentically South Yorkshire in atmosphere, notwithstanding the Scottish overtones of the layout's name. Very well done. Looking forward to more videos...
