  1. Hi Baimor, welcome back to the Garden Railway site. I am so sorry you have had to put up with vandalism. I could not imagine the amount of pain and loss I would feel after all your hard work and most of all expense. I am a newbie on this site and still awaiting a period of dry weather to lift the covers on my layout. All best wishes to you for your new layout, and look forward to see the layout rise from the ashes
  2. Nice to hear how things are going from you. This very damp winter must have been a problem for your viaduct. I will have to wait to see how my track and buildings have survived under tarpaulins once the winter weather ends. I have spent a little time relaying the tracks inside the shed. Some of the curves were tight and causing running problems.
  3. Well its been a nightmare for running outdoors this year with all the wet weather. I have also decided to revert to nearly the original track layout on the shed end of layout. I have had some trouble with the s curve derailing and the really tight curves have not helped. (all my fault trying to get a quart into a pint pot) So have started to lift the branch line and points and will relay next year after the covers come of for the 2024 season. So all best wishes to everyone.
  4. Hi Andrew, You lucky man, Paris is our favourite city especially all the main line stations. We used to go every year for three weeks at a time. However our age and our passports have expired we just stay in the UK. Have you been on Euro Star before? As you stated they are super fast. We found the seating a little hard. Regards, Ken
  5. Thanks Andrew. I am hoping for a session next week. The hedge does look well on the photo. Our neighbour had a chap come in to trim it back and he took to much off the side so most of hedge is dead.
  6. Hi Guys. Another two months of rubbish weather. I did manage a couple of days running trains over the weekend. The track was really dirty so spent a while cleaning. Enjoyed watching longer trains run outside as the shed oval is a little restrictive with running lengthy trains. Hoping to get some fech painting done this coming weekend so will touch up on shed end mof layout before I put covers on. Everyone must be in the same boat this year, as very little news from layouts.
  7. Hi Stephen, You have certainly had much major construction work to get were you are. It is good to see full length trains running. What radius curves are you using on the smaller return loop?
  8. It looks very smart and the length certainly adds to overhaul look. You should be very pleased. I am saving for a couple of coaches as they are as expensive as the locos were a few years ago. I feel that the hobby is for the collectors these days not the model railways runners. The seasons been a wash out this year.

We had a run up to Chester to see Making Tracks 3. Very impressive and like you running full length sets. Had a great day there talking to Pete Waterman and sitting by the river with an ice-cream

  9. Hi Guys. Its not been the best outdoor railway weather these past weeks. Have been pottering inside shed for weeks and today was the first chance to get a little run time in. Trust your are all keeping fit and well
  10. I let my heart rule my head and went for one of the Azuma sets. Looks very smart on track. The overhang on the coaches and the unusual coupling gizmo does not like changes in diction and small radius curves. So its will not be staying around for long, I decided to run something more me, a couple of the LNER and LMS big locos. Needless to say not a great deal done today with the wet weather.
  11. Thanks for that tip about cloth soak in cement. I sure I have seen this done on one of the garden restorers programmes.
  12. Wow what a lot of work you are having done and can see that its all for the better the paving looks very smart. I presume you took out your frustrations on the bamboo. potted plants. Your new Doodlebug looks very much at home. Thanks for sharing looking forward to your new part of the garden railway.
  13. I can not believe my luck other than the main power from controller to track had to be re soldered with new wire everything ran even without a track clean. I will doo a track clean and start to get shed end scenic. weather resistant. Do any of you experience guys know of a fairly easy weather resistant mix that can be used to mould scenic banks etc?
  14. Thanks for the update will certainly keep spring oiled.
  15. Hi everyone, I have at last been able to take the covers off the outside track. Unfortunately not enough time to run a loco round. The CEO as given me a list as long as the track of things to get sorted outside. So at this time just spending very little time on the layout but plenty in the garden. It does however look as if all as weathered reasonable well. I have 3 points that the spring as given up so awaiting new points. Should I have placed a little grease on them before covering?
