  1. Interested in your ballasting Roy, I'd be interested to see how it endures the weather, keep us posted. What is the glue mixture that you use?
  2. Always good to see your photos Andrew... Happy New Year!
  3. And a very Happy New Year to you too Tony! Ian R
  4. And the same to you too Griff! Ian R
  5. Hi Roy, Thanks for your comments and a Happy New Year to you. The island platform is all old Tri-ang / Hornby, i.e.platform sections, canopies and supports and R472 island platform waiting rooms. These were all gathered together from the likes of eBay. Although the island platform would be ok left out, it is one of the few items that I put away after operating sessions.
  6. I don't think it swells but it does hold moisture. It could be beneficial as it will soak up more glue, give it a try. Aren't the granules too big though?
  7. Seeing as the K&WR is slipping to the bottom of the forum I thought it time for a post. Nothing really to report on the railway really. Just the usual maintenance and a few running sessions in the summer. I've been busy lately with restoration jobs on my expanding collection of railwayana. I've also given my shed a makeover, it now looks more railway like. The garden is beginning to look like an annex to the NRM! Anyway I've posted a few photos so I don't get forgotten completely!
  8. Sad news Roy but I have to chuckle at the way you tell it! Wish her well from me. Ian.
  9. That was one hell of a shower! I'm liking the trackwork Chris, are all the points going to be motorised?
  10. I like those photos Mick, especially the low angle one. Nice to see a spurt of enthusiasm too!
  11. Great to meet you too Mick. Worsley Dale is even better in real life, the viaducts look superb! Looking forward to the next time, trains running or not.
  12. Anyone wanting a ride on the S&C maybe interested in this offer that Northern Rail have in conjunction with local newspapers. £10 for the day anywhere on Northern Trains!... Some friends and I took advantage of this offer last year and travelled Wakefield - Leeds - Settle - Carlisle - Barrow in Furness - Carnforth - Leeds - Wakefield... Not bad for a tenner! (Great scenery down the Cumbrian coast). http://www.northernrail.org/september13 If anyone wants two tokens I have two so get in touch. Ian R
  13. The station cafe is worth a visit too!
  14. The Yorkshire Dales are beautiful. I've made many trips up there, in fact I once built a layout based on Dent station. The total peace between trains at Dent station, which is actually in Cumbria, is wonderful. When you stand there with only the station masters house in sight you do tend to wonder who the hell used this station! There's a group called 'The Friends of the Settle & Carlisle Railway' and they do superb work keeping the stations looking beautiful. While your in your caravan Mick why not up go to Hellifield and have ride to Carlisle, it's well worth it. The have been quite a few conifers planted over recent years Roy. Not to everyone's liking... including mine. http://www.foscl.org.uk/
  15. Brilliant! Best wishes to you both.
  16. I'm so sorry to hear of your unhappy situation Iain. So that's the end of a great layout! I hope you'll still keep your interest and will be able to start another one real soon. If you do I for one will be keen to follow your progress. Ian.
  17. Nice to see one of us in the UK is working on something! Keep it up Richy!
  18. It would be good if members filled in their location on their profiles. I'm in Wakefield in Yorkshire and offer an open invitation to any members who would like to view the K&WR.
