  1. laser method device is all I use but remember no track is perfect level or straight in the real world. I mark out top end and bottom end of area for the levels and across the width to get a 4 point line then I use my eye to join up that gives you the odd gradients in the track works for me. happy laying
  2. I never trust the tester give me a bulb and 2 wires anytime.

  8. I not a big fan of the diesel's but they are now part of the history so I class my layout as a heritage plus my little boys love them. so its a mixed bunch, also they hug the 179.832 meters of flexi track that's down, steam are my favs but as we know one little object lump on rail them front bogies love to jump I have been using a light spring such as the ones out of a biro pen but not as good as adding a bit of weight (bit of lead) the img above there's a total of 8 locos there 4 of each. As for the BB I don't get anything free all paid for going up to 2oomb soon.
  9. The LNER Class A3 Pacific steam locomotive No. 4472 Flying Scotsman (originally No. 1472 The locomotive having been started under the auspices of the Great Northern Railway (GNR).) was built in 1923 for the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) at Doncaster Works to a design of H.N. Gresley. In 1962, British Railways announced that they would scrap Flying Scotsman. Number 60103 ended service with its last scheduled run on 14 January 1963. "The loco has been changed so often over the past 90 years that it is now practically impossible to present it in a wholly historically accurate appearance. As well as the currently most well-known guises of the apple green 4472 and the BR green 60103, Flying Scotsman has also been numbered 1472, 103, and 502.
  10. yes still on the test run The train will be hauled by locomotive No. 60103 “Flying Scotsman”, for a journey over the spectacular route through the Cumbrian Fells. This will be Flying Scotsman’s first scheduled mainline passenger run, before it's official completion and return with the inaugural run in February, it will still be in it's black base coat and not numbered at this stage, should for any reason the locomotive not be ready Black V’s 44871 and 45407 will haul the train double headed. The destination is Carlisle with time to explore the Border City.
  11. here is the inside of the shed still lots to do and sort all system is controlled from here but I do have the e-link RailMaster but not yet setup the shed is only a pass through and a storage area. I Have 2 small port windows looking down the main layout and one lookin out the back at the return loops. Still need to run the lan cable from house to the shed, or I get a electrician to wire me a feed from the main fuse board then I could internet link direct into house fuse box using it as a router. if anyone is thinking WTF yes it can be done as I have 5 pc's in my home running this way. all you need it the main home router lan to house electrics using a TP-Link powerline set up my 160mb broadband speed http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3705711287 using the TP-Links in other rooms they get around 40 to 60 mbs well here's the shed if you need any info on the above feel free to ask
  12. no touch wood, luck been on my side. I had them all running with out a glitch for 4 hours none stop till a leaf decided to lay on the track. that's the video from above But the fun run video it was set up on a tripod u can see me in the shed changing locos etc. as for the shed its just a pass through to the return loops, Was thinking of adding a 2nd shed to use as siding etc still thinking of a 6th line making it a colliery line but the 2nd shed and 6th line is just on paper not in the bank. YET.. As for the dcc side I will go that way in time using the elink and run via android or mini laptop

  14. ill stick to the Defender Series I - 800 horsepower What you see here is a circa-1950's Defender Series I, the original Land Rover that has crossed continents countless times. But in case it didn't get from coast to coast quite fast enough, some blessed soul has dropped in a supercharged Ford V8 kicking out around 800 horsepower.

  16. 5 lines 2 controllers that's a odd number wonder if I can get a 6th one in 6th line option 1
  17. I take your warmer weather any day system @ this time is DC but all running from 2 elite controllers but need to install new dcc chips in locos then back to the dcc system controller the lights on the system are 12volt stations and extras they get there power from 2 x 12v power packs via switches in time it will be all setup to use the eLink RailMaster which is stored away @ this time dcc elite set code 00 runs for none dcc locos so the controllers @ this time 1 runs 3 lines and the other runs 2 but you control all at the same speed and direction, that's why I need to get back on the dcc chips again, At this time the controllers are both using the bigger power pack and the layout is not running a bus line @ this time but will need one soon hummm thinking 5 lines 2 controllers that's a odd number wounder if I can get a 6th one in thx guys for your kind words
