Hi Nige, many thanks, what I like to hear that will keep me going, my wife said it will never be finished, but it will, it took Mick 3 years to complete his layout, do a bit at a time and not rush it will all come together, can't wait for the first train to run around the whole layout.

Like you it is too bloody cold opposite too bloody hot here , a few days of heat coming in cool change on Monday and Tuesday, give me time to get over what is wrong with me, at the moment can't walk too well in pain seeing the specialist today.

This will give me time to draw up a second station building not as big as Sydney Central..

Keep warm Nige.

Hi Tony, sorry to hear you are not well, being in constant pain is no fun at all mate as I can vouch for myself. I suffer with back pain most of the time as a result of a motorcycle incident in my younger days and now I have also developed sciatica which has taken pain to a whole new level, that said though, I am enjoying a (relatively) pain free period at the moment.

We are hoping to have a running day this Friday (23rd) but the weather forecast says there is a big storm approaching our little island Thursday night and into Friday and then another one on Christmas Day

They never normally get it right but you can bet your bottom dollar they do this time!:lol:

Thanks Nige, my pain has gone now too, a bugger yo are having back trouble, good to hear you are pain free too.

What the name of your island north o south of England, I can drop in for a visit on Google earth, :D:lol:

We are copping storms as well in the afternoon pretty warm one today 37 degrees and humid as well, hopping to mow the grass in the afternoon and the downside of battery mowers can't mow wet grass, grass is growing pretty fast, after tomorrow the days are cooler to Christmas, set up the last two approach modules, finished of screwing the sides on the last module Monday.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Finally I have managed to get this "Walthers" rotary unloader to work reliably. It's only taken the best part of two years! It must be one of the worse kits I have ever encountered, I have had to modify it almost beyond all recognition, and it was not cheap to start with!

It was one of those jobs that once you had started you wish you had never seen but by then you are too far in to go back!

Sorry video is a bit wobbly but I was trying to film and operate train and unloader all at same time!

Hi Nige, great to see coal dumper actually working gee taken you a couple of years to get working be great as a scene in stream loco  service facility, eye catching as well, what do you plan to model.

I just finished building a cross cutting jig for my circular saw making it a lot easier in getting that square cut every time, tomorrow I be using it for the first  time cutting strips of ply for the hinges to screw onto the module legs, pics on my post.

Hi Tony, the dumper is to be used for unloading stone from the short line on another part of our layout.

It has worked on and off for a while but not very well and recently it packed up altogether! so I have had to re build the drive system and modify it so that it works better, hopefully it will be ok now.

Yes Tony, the loaded hoppers leave the "Lonesome Pine Agg' & Lumber" yard and are tripped around to "Jamestown West Yard" where they are made up into a train usually consisting of 18 loaded 40ft hopper cars and a caboose then loco's are attached and the train departs for "Brampton" (which is where the unloader is situated as part of a small cement works) the journey is usually one full circuit of the layout then it proceeds up the " Brampton Valley Railroad" branch, the driver gets relieved at the bottom of the branch at "Lander Street" relief cabin.  A  "BVR" driver takes the train up the branch from there. There are always at least two loco's on each train as the branch is steeply graded. Upon arrival at "Brampton" the train is broken up and switched into the "South Yard" and then from there they are tripped round to the cement works for unloading as required! ......And great fun is had by all !!!!

Hi Nige, wow can't wit to see a video, are you under way in building the cement works or is finished, don't forget those pics, I be doing a few laps of my layout when running the Indian Pacific will time how long it takes to run around the  whole layout, and when I build the second extension to the layout, be a big change, have put in place for that to happen.

How are you planning to load the hoppers be interesting what you come up with, I have a friend that built a full working loader awesome to see in action, he also invented his own kadees that were able to turn while still connected the train when going through the   tipper like yours, I will get some pics and video if you are interested..

Progree is slow on my layout, painting the top of the first approach module car port end and starting over again laying points, track and the bus wiring never ending getting there.

My cross cutting jig worked well on Saturday speeding up in cutting more than one piece of ply at once, pics on my post.

Hi Nige, went back and had a look awesome, do you have any more pics of the gravel loader, and a video of it in action be nice to see, you can spend hours just on that scene and going around to the tipper, I want to  model wheat silo siding .

I was getting worried that I was having trouble with my lap top keys on Andrews post earlier had to give up  was going crazy, entre key was deleting the line I just typed not happened a few times, I am not sure if could be windows 10 edge being the problem, you have issues  as well, working fine now.

What is the weather like in the UK now, you guys are lucky the sun sets at 9pm in summer, nice to have those extra hours on the hobby in Western Australia sun sets 9pm , here on the east coast around 6.30pm.

Hi Nige, be looking forward to seeing the working video on your gravel loader, I will ask my friend in the US if he can send me a link to his grave loader , he uses those tortoise point motors on his loader.

Gee you are luck to have those long summer days, pretty hard to send kids to bed at 8pm when it is still day  light, it starts getting dark around 5pm in winter, 7pm in summer, as well the days are getting longer now

, being around 26 degrees that will change when the Ekkie is on mid August the westerlies start rolling in and they are cold., I stay indoors can upset my asthma.last month of winter.

be working on the bus wiring today on the first approach module, tried out a mock-up point plan on the next module working out well, can't wait to run the passenger trains through the points and cross overs leading into the platforms , yeah those short videos are pretty good.

Pretty soon you will have switch back to windows 10 when micrsoft stop supporting win7 my son is switchinbg early next year to wn10 , he is a heavy gammer, his computer is built for gamming.

We could of gone back to win8 too much trouble, not all happy though the latest big up-dates hove knocked out my Power DVD15 and my Paint shop pro shortcut doesn't work and no  spell check :So.O

Hi Nige, Wow nice to hear you have interest in larger scales, that scale can be very expensive   a few thousand over here , out of my reach  what type of loco is it .

I am using Chrome to be able to have spell check , the last big win 10 update knocked  it out using Edge, but it took some effort to log on , cap lock doesn't show up, if I hold the button down for my whole password wont accept it.

My layout is coming along  nicely working on the third car port end module back into it tomorrow.

Are you into boating, I am trying to chase a plan of the model Ro, Ro ship I want to model  the class is MSG 113 class  Tor Jutlandia based in London , Fin line have the class  nice looking ship mixed cargo trucks and containers.
