mick
Somewhat later than originally anticipated ("....Hornby Magazine has teamed up with Dapol to bring modellers a ready-to-run ‘OO’ gauge model of the sought after BR diesel brake tender with an expected release date in Spring 2013...."), Dapol's model has now been released. The model I've purchased is cat ref: HM011 and depicts BR Diesel Brake Tender No.B964064 in BR Green livery with small yellow warning panels. "Key Publishing and Hornby Magazine have teamed up with Dapol Ltd to produce this superb, authentic ready-to-run OO gauge BR diesel brake tender. Brake tenders were introduced to increase the brake force available to new diesels locomotives in the 1960s which struggled to slow down unfitted goods trains due to them being considerably lighter than their steam predecessors. Based on the later round topped diesel brake tender introduced in 1964–1965 the model features a high level of detail, with Gresley pattern bogies, NEM coupling pockets, scale 14.4mm diameter wheels and separately fitted buffers. An optional dummy screw link coupling is provided with each model together with a pair of removable lamps which are factory fitted at each of the model in the correct positions." Just need to weather up a few more 16 tonners now. Available to order via the Key Publishing website and priced at £27.99.
